A lifestyle question
In the average day, say 16 waking hours, do you spend outside? I mean in the open air, on the outside of any enclosure, building or structure. if that one is too hard to answer, how about in a week.
In the average 16 hrs you are awake, how many are spent on a computer? online?
Do you have a job?
That is it. This wont influencne the way i think of any of you, i am just curious. It doent really matter.
in the average 16hr weekday i spend about 7-9 hours outside.
I spend usually about 2-4 hours on a computer, most of those online, but not everyday. (if i had a better connection i would spend less time doing more.)
I have a job.

I will go outside everychance I get but, I haven't had the chance to. So on average 20 minutes - 1 hr a day.
I do have a job as a computer programmer.
I also am finishing some courses to get my Bachelor's Degree in Computer Information Systems. I already have an Associates Degreee.
So I take classes at night during the week while also working during the week.
I am also a new father of my 8 month year old son.
So you can see I have limited opportunities to enjoy the outside.

The best outsides, as i think, are a seacoast, a forest or at least a park.
I haven't the first, but I can walk in a forest nearby. About 2 hours in 2 days + city outside.

I like the forest too, but my favourite spot is on top of a mountain. If i lived in a city, i would probably spend more time inside. Outside is the ----s in many cities.
Yeah i messed up on that poll pretty bad. oh well

I do (used to live in Auburn, now I live in the backwoods of New Sharon). I read your post and I started thinking... yes, Maine has some large towns, but for the life of me, I can't picture anything that I'd remotely classify as a "city". Augusta's not a city, it's just spread out... Portland's not a city, though if I had to pick a "city" in Maine I'd choose it... Lewiston/Auburn may had been a city in 1900 but no longer... where is there a city in Maine?
To answer you, Gayowulf:
Outside? I don't like the outdoors, it's all wet and full of nature :). Under an hour a week. If I can manage, not at all. Plus, the outside is virtually swarming with other people. I'm a bit of a sociophobe, I'm only talking freely here because mentally I don't consider any of you to be real "people", you're just words on a message board. I've said too much, I'll stop there :).
Online? Assuming 16 hours of wakefulness? 10, at least.
Job? Yes (at home and not regular hours, but yes).

Although I love computers and webpaging, I also love the great outdoors and I go whenever I can. I'm going mountian-climbing this weekend!

Whenever I'm outside, I play. Whenever I'm indoors, I play. What I'm trying to say? Uhh... I dunno.
I spend more than 14 hours outside in a 7 day week. Really. I have a life. I do play like a normal active teen's supposed to. But anytime I'm not outside, I'm sitting in front of the monitor. :D

OK OK. I live in Lewiston. It may not be much compared to the 7 million people of NYC, but our pop. of 35,000 classify us as a city--second largest at that--under Maine's standards.

NY is 7 millions? The whole population of my country is 10 millions. Come and visit for some outdoors. You are welcome. ;)

No 's' there, meow. ;)
BTW, are there more people in NYC (not NY) than in LA?
Bruce

I'm pretty sure NYC has more people. As of 1998 LA had a population of just under 4 million.

 Go 's' yourself. ;)
Millions is only used when it is a hypothetical number or what? Like "I have millions of ideas" (not).

god, I'd hardly rate that a town - I suppose it's what you are used to.
I used to live somewhere with a pop of 250,000 and I felt that was way small
Outside is nice - I also like high up. I don't get out enough these days

Well I wouldn't consider it a city when you compare it to other places around the US either, but around here since its the second largest place everyone figures it must be a city becasue they think that "every state has at least 5 major cities."
Now when we figure in that the state of Maine only has a population of around 1.5 million, everyone has just grown accustomed to calling it a city.

Buenos Aires is much larger than New York or Los Angeles, in its entirity (All of its Districts) it has a Population of 15 Million.

About my city
http://www.indiakhoj.com/population/delhi.htm
I'm not proud of my city it's the 4th largest polluting city in the world. I'm proud of the people who live here though, they are trying their best to change the city from a dark polluting one to a clean and green one. :)

Buenos Aires is supposed to be a very clean city... take a look at the pictures on Corbis. I heard good things about Mumbai... the opposite about New Delhi though.

Yes, I'm surprised someone outside of India knows it by it's new name! It was called Bombay until a few years back. It's the city of dreams cleaner and better and hard working people living there. It is home to the largest film industry in the world.

I am arranging a trip to the inner sections of Buenos Aires were I get to be in the Great outdoors. I love mountains, trees, and hiking. I love to go on trips anywhere, I am also intending to go to Punte del Este, Uruguay and Sao Paolo, Brazil.
When I am out in the city, I usually watch movies (that are in english, most have spanish subtitles), and I go eat out in Good Resturants. There is a mega-mall near by, which is much bigger than any I have ever seen in the States, even bigger than that one in Miami.. I usually go out to.
