I have been trying to discover why my hard disk has been so full lately. I finally worked out the problem. There is around 700mb of "File0006.chk, File000a.chk" etc. There are hundreds of these files, some being 2mb +.

The files are located directly in the root of my C:\. Is it safe to delete them?

Never mind. They are just scandisk error logs from when I simply switched off the computer (withour shutting down).

you should also get a free program like easycleaner, they delete unncessary files like the ones you just mentioned. There are a lot more than you think!

Not ALWAYS. Some day you will eventually sit there with an unusable tower, where the rest of the content is broken and not working.

Scan Disk finds an "invalid or long file name" after every scan. I don't know where the file is. I have been using Norton and Xoftspy regularly.
