Graphic and Copyright?

Hello all :)

I am confused with finding a graphic/picture that I can use for my web design.
Well it's easy to find graphic/picture from google images. However I just wonder, am I allowed to use the graphic? like if the picture of dog, I just wonder if I can just take the picture and edit and use only like dog nose for design? Or it's still about copyright? what about some pictures that in their website they don't have copyright information about their images/picture/graphic?

Well... I feel confused about this, that make me can not get a lot of image sources :) I just wonder what is your opinion as designer? So I can know better about this :)

I think the overall basic rule is:
Assume it probably is under copyright with the rest of the page.

To find images to use either search for stock images, which are everywhere these days. Just do a google for it and you'll find plenty. Also, ask for permission if you're unsure, so you'll know within safe limits. Most people will allow use if it's for non-commercial or they'll sell you a lease to use their graphics commercially. You can't go wrong if you take the safest precautions. ;-)

Unless otherwise stated, everything that is created by you and then published on the internet is automatically copyrighted. Unless of course someone else has the rights or they have distributed them accordingly.

Just...if you find a good picture...ASK the person for permission to use it whether or not they have a copyright or not bc it is sorta common curtisty and respect towards others!

well ill make you some free graphic backgrounds if you want my aim is veggie1232 and my msn is veggies-g@Hotmail.com, the whole point of copy right it to make sure you dont make money of of someoe elses product. so im sure it would be ok to put it onyour site as long as you dont claim it as yours also get the html code so when there mosse goes over the image you can say image hosted by ( what ever website u got from ) its a small text that pops up also i have that code if u want it its very simple well good luck with your website

and if i saw my work on another web site i would take it as flattering that other people used it as long as they dont take credit
