Banner-Mania.. Banners, Popups, or Both?

Is Banner-Mania currently running banners only, popups only, or a mix? They seem like the best choice for CPM at the moment on lower-traffic sites, but I'd like to avoid popups.

You're gonna love this...

They technically run banners only, but their TOS states that you must not have popups on any pages that you have their code on.

However, their code will randomly open a pop-up to an advertiser. (I guess that would explain why they say "no pop-ups" in their TOS.) Rumor had it that (since they are a re-seller) this is their way of increasing their CTR. Who knows.

I've experienced this, though. Been surfing my own site when a link to an advertiser opened, and I *knew* that I hadn't clicked on any banners. :confused:

So, if you want to totally avoid popups, stay away, because Banner-Mania may pop its own at random. But if you don't mind offending the occasional surfer, go for it. :D

Also, you may want to find a good company to handle defaults. I don't know about sites in other categories, but my joke site was seeing a default rate of 70% - 80%. That means that instead of the $.50 CPM, I was looking at something in the neighborhood of $.15 CPM if I didn't have any paying banners to take up the slack.
