Okay i just learned the hard way that my monitor doesn't support 1200x1600. Now it doesn't function and i'm using a library computer. So the question is how do i get the setting back to normal now that the screen is all black???

My Monitor did the same... you can only reinstall windows and see.
This is offtopic: Your location says "Cali", is that Cali, Colombia?

lol, NOOOOO. Don't reinstall windows. While you boot (right after the BIOS) pres F8 you will then get a menu where you can select 'Boot in safe mode" or something. Now you will have your settings restored to 640x480. Just reboot then and evrything will be fine.
BTW if the menu doesn't show up, just turn off your computer, or reboot while you are starting windows, then you will get the menu too.

I'm guessing that would be California.

I tried that when my monitor went bonkers, it didn't work.

Your computer didn't correct boot to safe mode? Did it lock up or what happened? Safe mode is usually in 640x480 with 16 colors using standard VGA so that should have worked.
Usually when it says Windows is starting if you hit F8 in time you will get the menu to choose safe mode. I also believe you can hold down the control key on boot up for the menu to come up. Safe mode should work though.
