I was informed today that a coworker of mine husband shot himself at the dinner table saturday night. He had found out she was going out behind his back, not neccesarily cheating on him. She had been saying she wanted out of the relationship with him, and they have three kids. She works at Walmart, and he worked at one of the foundries. No insurance due to suicide. Right at the kitchen table, at dinner time, in front of the kids and all.

It sucks because she is a real sweetheart

Also, another coworker of mine, his friend shot and killed himself a few days ago as well, he was 22.

Yet again, another local kid, shot and killed himself. I dont know too much about that one, but they all fall within the same week, in the same small --- pennsylvania town.

Also, the last round of deaths about 2 weeks ago in Iraq, one was another associates brother (Mandy Lynn), who was buried yesterday. Wasnt a suicide however.

Anyone else noticing a suicide trend in their area? I am beginning to think they are going to spike due to economy, lack of jobs, and increasing pressure on everyday life. The end of the summer means dreary times once again, and that may add to the pressure, and the will to no longer live and deal with it. Gas prices dont make this scenario any better either.

I seriously think there is going to be a suicide spike, perhaps mid august to mid september, will be the highest for that time frame in long time.

No suicides in this area. But, we've had an increased in the number of people being diagnosed with cancer. Two of my aunts, my friends aunt, my neighbors father and a professor of mine. Plus a teacher that my mom works with at the school.

Damn that sucks...we've been getting a lot of shootings, and missing kids. (Toronto, I'm in Richmond Hill, slightly north of Toronto)

Hell of a lot of shootings..and there was a missing kid whose boyfriend lives not too far from here..so last night there was like..15 cops stationed at the old folks home down the street..they were everywhere, looking for the kid no doubt, well, a body anyway..she's been missing for a while..so everyones hopes have seemed to gone down.

Regards,

We also had another kid at the end of the last college semester shoot himself not too far from the police station. It happened on a Friday, they didnt find his body until Sunday. Apparently, he was shamed because he had just been kicked out due to being caught cheating, and couldnt face his parents when he went home over the summer. They were paying his tuition.

Newsweek now calls this very area I live in "Meth Valley". What an honor.

It's sad, poor children, that's the image they will keep from their father for the rest of their life

on a more demented note, they have the ultimate story to use as an excuse against any failures and shortcomings they may have. and for pity. and would be great on a college essay. not everyone exactly has something like this to say.

Actually, and I really hate to say this...

Some were sharing previous suicides of friends from their past. One went along the lines of this- he bought a six pack, and said he was going for a walk. On his little walk he was carrying a chain. He climbed up to a tree limb, drank his six pack, and jumped off with the chain around his neck. All because he couldnt get his kids on Christmas. See what divorce does? Let it be a lesson to all you hardcore parents who want to be asses and not let the other parent see their kids on holidays.

Kind of made me think about writing some short stories again, thats why it made me feel bad, thought it could be a good and demented ending.
