I was thinking of creating a site that lists available 3 letter or less domains across many different TLD's. 3la's database is really old, I was wondering if anyone would find this sort of thing useful?

of course it would be useful but as you know it must be real time meaning tha ones that has been allready registered must not be at the list.

The thing is you need to have a whole lot of time. But ones you made the db, it's pretty easy to daily/weekly check all the names in the db. And ones a moth, you run the whole search, but without the names in the db.

the main problem is that all of the good ons are reregistered as soon as they become available (this is certainly true for .com domains).

9ms.org does not have any value in my opinion.
you could find at least a net one at
deleteddomains.com (http://www.deleteddomains.com)
