@ ViP-Recoil: there is no setup fee at myvaluehost if you only buy the domain. The setup fee is for the hosting only.
@ Romeo18: I only have experience with myvaluehost and domainsite.com. I'm not to sure about domainsarefree, but I heard their control panel is really bad.

I will stay clear of them then. Aplus.net also looks quite promising. I will probably check them out as well. I see they have cheap registeration fee.

Hey guys,
I've registered a domain at www.domainsarefree.com and all I got from them was slow dns updates and a bunch of emails trying to sell me their hosting. I had to email them for the emails to stop and I didnt opt in. For the price its an ok domain, but they lace it to try to get you to buy hosting from them.

Did you try aplus.net? I am thinking of registering a domain name with them soon if they are any good.

I looked at afraid.org and I don't see where they offer free domains. Just free hosting for the domains. Godaddy isn't a cheap registrar. Almost $9/year.

I recommend NameCheap.com. Although they don't seem to be the cheapest registrar, they provide one year free whois guard which normally worth 4-5 bucks. So that means you're just paying 4-5 buck for a domain name and paying another 4-5 bucks for the whois guard.
