I have an account at directoris.com and now I feel disappointed because of its slow speed and and the down time. I know I should not ask much because it is only $14 but......
If only the speed is faster and more reliable.
The saying is true: "YOU GET WHAT YOU PAID FOR" :(
Does anyone else have the same problem with directoris.com?

If I remember correctly, it was just a $14 one time fee.

Yeah, darn Donhost. They ought to be flogged for keeping people on that sick server.
Where do you live curiousity? This has been up before. Most people find Donhost (and hence Dorectoris) fast enough but some seem to have problems with the speed. Last I heard was Asia and it turned out to be a routing problem.

Meow,
I live in California, USA
I know that DonHost is in the UK, but still....it is getting so slow and unreliable that I sometimes get really mad. I know, I know...you get what you paid for....but still....

That's not it then. My friend that also have an account there live in CA (Santa Ana) and he doesn't have this problem.
This is fishy. Anyone knows what it can be? Technics, you are in UK. You know?

Directoris is pretty fast for me. The problem is that they are on server6 on Donhost and that server is not one of the best servers Donhost have.
The update is Directoris will be moving to their own server in about 2-3 weeks time and will buy another server(NT based) towards the year end.
Inspite of so many accounts they have (close to 2000 they say but I don't believe it.) their support is excellent IMHO.
ps: $14*2000=$28,000!!

2000 sites all on one server? Ouch.

I've got an account there and there seems to be a problem uploading large image files. It usually takes about 4 uploads before the image is viewable. Otherwise it's just a red cross.
Also, I've been told that with each subdomain I get 50mb for free. Plus, there's unlimited subdomains. If this is true, then I don't give a damn about the speed.
The speed seems ok for me. Not the fastest, but it's fast enough on my 56k. It's down sometimes though :( . The support is the best I know of. I've bombarded them with questions, and everytime I've got a reply in a matter of minutes.
Hopefully, the downtime issue will be resolved soon. When it is, I'll be the happiest man alive....until they fold.
BTW, I just noticed that the setup fee has gone up to $35.

They offer unlimited subdomains, but you don't get any extra space. The subdomain just goes to a subfolder of your domain.

Wrong gybro you do get extra 50 MB of space. I have confirmed it.

Sounds like they give you an extra 50mb of space to use for unlimited subdomains. Not each subdomain gets 50mb of space. Or I may be wrong.

When I bought in the deal was the following. That may of course be different for new users.
---------------------------
subdomains, it's unlimited. We will give you 50 megs per
subdomain. Also, you will be able to choose the amount of bandwidth you wish to allocate to each of your subdomains.

The bandwith is limited to 5 GB though even if you have more space.
