You only need one hat (^) not two (^^) to show exponent.

= (1 + 0.05)^5

= x(1) + a(0.05) + b(0.05^2) + c(0.05^3) + d(0.05^4) + e(0.05^5)

x=1
a=5
b=10
c=10
d=5
e=1

(from row 5 of pascal's triangle)

= 1 + 0.25 + 0.025 + 0.00125 + 0.00003125 + 0.0000003125
= 1.2512815625

Now this doesn't match what I get if I just do the goddam sum on calculator, so I guess I f***ed it up somewhere. You get the idea though. (and I'm still bored!)

to use the = sign, YUPAPA, you have to do everything up to the power 5. You have done up to the power 2, which is a good approximation but you can't strictly use an 'equals' sign.
