Let me get this straight ...

You are looking for SECURE storage for your files and you
are looking at FREE hosting providers?

Am I missing something?

For files stored on a web server, I hope you know you can just
put a .htaccess file with a "deny from all".

Even better, just simply store your files outside of the web server path ...

Most hosts have the root of your site in /public_html or /httpdocs.
If you store your files under "/" or some other folder then they
won't be accessible by the web and require your FTP login to access.
