"The current Beta 1 release of IE 7 is too buggy to use as an everyday browser but it shows promise. I've crashed the browser hard several times in Windows Vista Beta 1, and the standalone version won't retain its window size and doesn't display the standard toolbar by default for some reason. But IE 7 will be an important release for Microsoft, and the question now is whether it will be enough to stem the flood of defections to Mozilla Firefox. My guess is that it will be good enough, though of course time will tell. In the meantime, my advice is to stay away from IE 7 Beta 1--especially on XP, where it overwrites the more stable IE 6.0--and wait for Beta 2. If my suspicions are correct, IE 7 could surprise a lot of people, including even me.

I guess it's cool that they added tabs and all... but they still haven't done anything about the biggest problem--its rendering engine.

The engine is severely outdated and still can't even properly display CSS.

You mean they're going to release it with the old engine? Even M$ can't be that stupid... or can they? I mean, who would use such a browser? (except for those who still use IE6, silly me)

yeah, if it's still the old engine then IE7 will be totally useless

they should def. base it on the gecko framework, like firefox is. Or, if they dont want to do that, make a decent engine!

i went to some browser standerds site that someone provided a link for and it worked in the pdc build but its not ment to work with ie.
Is it better than firefox well it has more fetures and a better download manager plus its compatible with avalon-win fs.
I never thought id be draged from the fox congrats MS

If everybody had firefox, the web would be a much more beautiful place. Desinging for IE takes way too long. Also, go to google maps in IE and in Firefox. Firefox is much more efficiant for that sort of thing too.

Dont diss the fox.

Actually no. If that was the case people would spend all their time finding exploits in Firefox.

I'm glad IE is there to take the brunt of that.

I already have programs for security, what i really want to see is design, and with ie still around that is harder than it should be.

Actuly poladium is different to your hit-and-miss software acting as a security layer below the aps and browsers there is nothing like it to date it will have hardware-support
