Does anyone have to script to provide free webhosting in their domain?
Let's say that you have a dedicated server
and you want to provide free webspace for people like
http://www.yourdomain.com/members/membername
just by signing up
automatically creates the member and the space

a script similar to stas.net
web file manager -create directories, upload, etc
log in
signup

I want to provide a free webhosting

Thank you

First you'll need to get your dad to buy you an OC12 deciated server. Then come back and ask us for the next step.

Anyways

Is your connection unlimited? You'll really need unlimited space and bandwidth if you want to start a FWP. There are lots of reputable unlimited hosts out there. I'm sure someone here can recommend some if yours isn't.

No...
I don't have OC3
I'm using my friend's server and connection for this
which is Multiple T3
I think

I'm just trying to form a simple online programming community by offering programmers webspace with no banners, etc...

anyone have the script? :(

I knew somebody would come along and ruin the fun. :p

Seriously though...here's a few places to start looking.

http://cgi.resourceindex.com/Programs_and_Scripts/Perl/Homepage_Communities/

http://php.resourceindex.com/Complete_Scripts/Homepage_Communities/

Check them out and when you find some that interest you ask here again about them. There's bound to be people here that have tried all of them and can give you some advice about which ones are better than others.

oh
I've tried those
and they are nothing compared to the one in stas.net and several other free hosting sites

I've just recently tried
http://webhome.cyberscript.net/free/download.cgi

The problem with this script is that it doesn't let me upload

Heh..umm...you wont get anywhere with cheap scripts like webhome. If you want true fwp software, get ready to shell out a minimum of $3000+ and thats just for good web-based software. If your looking to offer ftp, ssh (secure shells w/telnet), per account server logs, true domains hosting, etc....you'll be looking at higher prices.

Should be pocket change next to that OC-12 server you got though (-:

It's not OC 12!
errrr
:(

Can you tell me where to purchase that script?

Greetings,

CustomCGI.NET(http://www.customcgi.net) has File Manager software called "Vlinto". The next version should be coming out any year now(just kidding, I think before January...or so the author says). I've personally seen the prototype and it looks amazing.

And hey, if that doesn't suit your needs, you can always get a quote from them on a script to do exactly what you'll need.
