Hey everyone again :)

I'm looking into a shared hosting plan on a raq4. It has no subdomains but dns wildcards are available. I've herd that most free subdomain redirection scripts don't play nice with the Raq's. Are there any that are specificially for Raqs or any that are known to work on the raqs??

Thanks a lot!!

Cobalt Raq's have and continue to be a nightmare to really customize. You can setup up to 255 virtualhosts within their system and prehaps more with minor modifications. However, things like subdomain scripts, wildcards and what not are very hard to setup correctly and often fail if you reboot the server or run the control panel section that effects their funciton. your best bet is to get a *real* server or disable the cobalt internal features completely (and void your warenty).

There should be no problems to set up a subdomain script on your raq if wildcards are enabled.

The problem with raqs and forwarding is that a raq normally rewrites everything (so something.domain.com becomes www.domain.com).
And Ted is also right that the controlpanel makes alot of stuff you don't want. But if you have a shared account you shouldn't have to care about that.

So I think any script would work (I used to run has.it from a dedicated raq3).

Hi, that's exactly the problem i am facing.
am hosted on a raq 4r on tera-byte and got there plan 4 (static ip) and wildcarding, but with the problem you describe above.

Anybody got an idea how i can solve that problem to get subdomains???
Tried out several scripts, but didn't manage to get them working.
Always was redirected to my main page:-(

I think Keith ( www.wzr.net ) is on Tera-byte shared hosting. Try contacting him.
