View Full Version : I can't find ANY free host that has what I need!!!

All righty..... I'm new at this forum... but I'm very experienced with using forums :)

Anyways....

I can't find ANY hosts that have what I'm looking for!! I am in desperate need of help... I have a quite active community and all of the hosts I have used for it (my community started out on an ezboard--remotely hosted--, then it moved to a virtualavenue host, which seemed to bust the boundary between a good, useful host and complete stupidity. Then, after a while of the horror on virtualavenue, it's moved to netfirms. Then, DK3.com, but then I found out they have no sendmail or anything. So, now it's back on netfirms.) and my members are beginning to LEAVE due to all the moving! :(

What I need:

AT LEAST 25 megs
CGI/Perl Access (must be at least Perl 5)
SSI (server side includes)
Sendmail
FTP
Good amounts of uptime
NO Popups!!

I've found virtual avenue, hypermart, freeyellow, netfirms, (dk3.com wont due cuz I need sendmail)...

Netfirms has sendmail (its all what I need there) BUT their sendmail doesn't work! :(

Can ANYBODY help me??? If so thank you so much!!

f2s has all that but only 20megs...
maybe you could talk to yupapa into working something out...

Yes, but when you register @ f2s they say "Only register if you don't mind a lot of downtime!" or something...

Plus, I've heard comments about f2s that kinda draw me away from it...then later on I tried it out and it just didn't suit it...

Any others :)

Sorry, F2S is the only one that provides that without ads. You might want to consider a decent paid host, like Terabyte or Below10host.

Why do you keep moving? Is it because they don't have what they say they do? Do you use massive amounts of bandwidth?

It seems clear to me that there is no host that will give you what you want. you've found a few that come close but leave for very mediocre reasons. Its simply not feasible to have many great future, reliability without popups and without paying. If you're lucky you'll find these services with popups and with some down time and you'd still be lucky.

Yes, I've repeatedly moved my site because of different reasons....

First I found out my first host, VirtualAvenue, only allowed business sites...............................

(I didn't realize this for a LONG time.....)

So, then I moved to netfirms. Of which, I then found out that I wasn't using all my disk space, but I was using up my file limit of 1500 files.

So, I seeked another host. I found dk3.com on this site's search functionality, and then found out there that they had no sendmail access...

Next I found, FINALLY, a host that has all I need! mektek! I'm still waiting for them to accept my site....
