If you can minimize the limit 20GB disk space, I think you can get it even in a cheaper price. You should evaluate the disk space carefully as per your need otherwise you are just going to pay for those extra space without using it. :classic2:

Actually, with your own server, you have to pay for a connection. And 500GB of bandwidth is a lot of that connection limit, unless you are paying out the wazoo for a 20Gbps connection or something. With a server you also have to pay for software (OS, cPanel, vB, and others), the hardware, the server itself, and other things.

I predict slow loading times, and a letter from your ISP.

By my calculations, the cheapest server at Layered Technologies costs $65.00 per month and includes 1000GB of bandwidth. If you double $15 you get $30, so unless you are overselling I fail to see how you can "afford to sell cheap" because you would be loosing $35 per month... :P

Very true, but some hosts prefer not to advertise, and just get visitors/customers by using other methods.

But you seem about right that only ABOUT 10-12 hosts are still here from January.

I know I have only just been here and open since august but I only opened once I knew I had enough customers to make one server worthwhile, close to purchasing our third (second server is offered to customers as a download server for a small fee)

Ctrl-Alt-Deli shutdown around July and having been with them for 2 years I have the experience and am hoping to stay around, Millenium Hosting site does load quite slow but then again its PHP-Nuke, design looks a bit mashed but I can't really comment because I can't design!

Anyway overselling is bad and can result in respected websites dissapearing, customers losing data that could be valuable
