will google offer free webspace like geocities ?velton October 9th, 2005, 07:32 am wondering will google lanuch their free web services such as yahoo!geocities.. niv October 9th, 2005, 09:00 They are already a household name...free webspace would be a waste of resources. imagehostxxl October 11th, 2005, 07:52 Actually, I assume that google has already looked into the issue. They might even have a concept to realize this, but I guess in the moment the concentrate on other things google earth, google talk, may later google video or google TV ;-) stonerocket October 11th, 2005, 21:39 I think it would be a great idead for google to offer free webspace, They could incorparate it with the gmail account allowing your gmail space to be used as hosting... Just a thought. hostfaq October 11th, 2005, 22:47 Heard this idea before, but there's no rumors or news made that google plan on doing web hosting. Maybe in the future... who knows? :D Gmail = 2 +GB Webhost = 5+ GB :) ahhahahah tandoc October 12th, 2005, 01:28 I think it'd be a stupid idea. If they ever did, they'd either restrict FTP, file extensions, file size limits and/or various other things. kabatak October 12th, 2005, 14:19 i doubt they will. i'm sure people will abuse it if they offered gigs for free. also i think the people in the hosting industry will start to hate google even if it offers paid hosting. Mentok October 12th, 2005, 15:25 Heard this idea before, but there's no rumors or news made that google plan on doing web hosting. Maybe in the future... who knows? :D Gmail = 2 +GB Webhost = 5+ GB :) ahhahahah no they wouldnt do 5+gig for GMail hardly anybody uses the full 2gig so they are kinda getting off lightly. If they did it for webhosting then everybody would actually use all 5GB. stonerocket October 12th, 2005, 16:16 no they wouldnt do 5+gig for GMail hardly anybody uses the full 2gig so they are kinda getting off lightly. If they did it for webhosting then everybody would actually use all 5GB. thats true! if they did offer free hosting calculate how much tb would be used.. ben-mr October 12th, 2005, 16:39 aDN THING IS, IF THEY GAVE OUT 2 OR 5 GB, THINK HOW MUCH BW WOULD BE USED? i ALSO HEARD OF A THING WHERE YOU COULD USE YOUR GMAIL AS A STORAGE THINGY, AND HAVE IT SHOW UP AS A DRIVE? aNYONE KNOW THIS? ben-mr Matt8 October 14th, 2005, 01:37 http://www.viksoe.dk/code/gmail.htm Nug October 23rd, 2005, 05:34 Well i hope they do! Guess you learn something new everyday Me neither, I wonder if it sucks as bad as Yahoo. TSO July 7th, 2007, 21:03 am wondering will google lanuch their free web services such as yahoo!geocities.. I don't think so - and even if they do, I don't know that it would be a very useful service. My guess is that it would be very basic, and users would be restricted to using some sort of Website builder program. (EDIT: I've already been AIM'ed about this - I know about Google Pages, but that's not the kind of hosting I'm really referring too - though it illustrates my point about their use of Website builders.) ikick July 7th, 2007, 21:53 they already do :) www.google.com/a Matt8 July 7th, 2007, 22:11 from what I remember, you DO have to use their editor and it's very basic. Not designing for everyone, just people who want a very basic presence on the web. ikick July 7th, 2007, 22:46 from what I remember, you DO have to use their editor and it's very basic. Not designing for everyone, just people who want a very basic presence on the web. yes. That is right. They have one of the most basic wysiwyg editors around. I would only suggest you use for a personal site, it doesnt even have ftp, mysql etc.. | ||||
