Supermoo once said to me that If a company don't require ur SS for taxes, then its more likely to be a scam. Now I am passing this info to you :)

umm
I dunno about zat.

The IRS doesn't require you to fill the 1099 unless you earn more than $600 (cash in hand) in a calendar year -- so companies don't really need your SSN till then.

Case in fact, I have received eight checks from Epinions without having to submit a SSN of any kind --- certainly not a scam.

Besides, Non-US affiliates don't even have a SSN.

You must realize that in most countries you must pay taxes.

Hell, I don't even live in the US and I pay taxes to the US govt.

You hafta pay taxes alright, but the cash-in-hand thingee is taxed after you earn $600.

They are only required to report them after $600. Many report them anyways for their own sack (even if udner $600) so they can prove their expenses if audited.

I pay taxes if I buy on the net, only if the store resides in the State of Florida. My P.O. Box resides there.

Every time I visit New Orleans, I have to pay taxes even if I show the passport. There is a big tax free sign in the middle of shopping mals and the store attendants looks like they don't know anything about it or they don't want to. Texas and Miami is different. Still you can change all the receipts at the airport for tax refund, and the US still keep with some %15 of the cashback.

US Military personnel here in Panama they use to pay taxes out of the bases. I don't know if they were refunded.

It doesn't matter if you get $1 from 600 people, the taxes are caluculated as your total income. They tax YOUR income, not THEIR outcome.
