Yes, you should write a letter for domain transfer to yahoo. I think they will charge some specific fees to transfer. Transfer of management of domain registration to another does not terminate all services, you should have to complete procedure through online cancellation form located at console.domains.yahoo.com. IMO, Domain transfer is not possible in first 60 days after domain registered.
