What like the most important factor in getting high ranking on hotbot, altavista, lycos, excite, and such. Is it Meta tags, link popularity or other? And how do you guys get like 10 million hits/month?

being different :p

put 'thiswilltopthemsearchenginesyeah786754' on a page submit it a few places wait a month and then search for that term. I guarantee you'll come out tops apart from maybe this page ;)
for something like 'red hot porn' it's more of a challenge ;)

This site has some good tips

http://searchenginewatch.com/

but you have to pay for the really good info - typical! I'm sure someone posted in a thread not long ago how to rank highly in search engines - search for it - it was interesting.

every three terms you put in your META name="keywords" tag, put something like hot or sexy or something illegal:

<META NAME="keywords" CONTENT="journalism, world, news, sex, foreign, affarirs, leaders, mp3, quality, content, 24-hour, porn, updates, journalism, world, hookers, news"> :D ;) :p

google gives higher ratings for the number of links to a site...

google also gives you a higher ranking if your site is listed in yahoo.
