Hi. I originally wrote this on Zeeblo (a community I'm more active in, and that provides the hosting for WebmasterNoobs.com)

I am so *&^%$(# mad at Hostultra right now it's not even funny. I got paid hosting with them on February 24, 2005 (I even have the activation email), with their "Mini 1" account, which costs $20 a year. I also registered Spiralfive.com on the exact same &*(#)@& day. I thought I was getting a great deal, but I was sorely mistaken. For one thing, then include this super-super stripped down version of cPanel, that only allows you to use the *&$( file manager, manage mail, and subdomains. For heaven's sake, there are free hosts with more features than that! Zeeblo, 1L, SuperFreeWeb, and lots of other hosts have much better specs and feature. But that's not even what burns my @$$, it's the fact that I KNOW that I registered it on February 24th (it was a late birthday present), and now I"m being told to re-new the account on November 1st. I didn't want to renew the account, I just wanted to change the nameservers to Superfreeweb or Zeeblo so I wouldn't have to fork out $60 (I also upgraded to Mini 2 Package) on inferior hosting. BUT, they won't let you change the nameservers to another host. I thought that that was bad at first, until I remembered you can have a domain name on a free account also. So, (this is after I cancelled my paid hosting account) I posted in their support forum requesting the domain be changed to my free account. 1 day went by, no reply, no post views. So, I re-posted the same message (since I run a forum myself, I assumed that the admin utilizes the "recent topics" feature and would find it easier). Additionally, it's like a ghost town except for their site adversiting forum, where everyone advertises their sites full of pop-ups and routine activeX ad/spyware (thank god for Firefox). Anyway, I thought I had my domain back at this point, surely someone was going to reply to the message. Today, a few minutes ago, I logged back in and noticed that my thread had been closed with no reply. I also had no emails nor PM's from them. Now I was just plain pissed. So, I started another thread requesting my domain be changed AGAIN. A few minutes later it was merged with the oringal thread and re-opened. Then I received a reply from admin saying that I made 4 posts and I would be banned for 7 days. So, I went over to the Spiralfive proxy (still active, since it was not hosted on Hostultra) and registered spiralfive_1 and created another thread with my activation email and the renewal email and the domain renewal email along with a link to the WHOIS information. Their renewal date did not match up. It should have said February 24, 2006 at least. I renewed it mid-year to the MINI2 package, so it should have actually been something like August 2006. Anyway, I did not receive a reply to that thread either, and it was deleted. They also banned spiralfive_1 and the spiralfive anonymous proxy IP. At that point, I just gave up. Hostultra now owns a domain that I worked on for several months and brought it up to a PR4 (for some reason it recently went back down to a PR3 site), 2k daily visitors, and a $6 a day income from Google AdSense. Any Comments?

Also, until the domain expires, Spiralfive will be located at spiralfive.em.bz (whenever I get another host that works well, it's slow now)

Admins/Mods, I don't know if this is the right place for this, so move it if necessary.

I have a client who moved to us from the same situation...they have a very strict policy for not giving access to change nameservers..but the thing is, this is against the ICANN rules..someone could report this.

I have also heard a few things about the guy that runs it.

Im in the exact same boat as you spiralfive. I basically want out of hostultra because all in all there a crap company. Crap value for money, crap support, crap servers, crap uptime, crap everything.

I sent a support ticket 2 weeks ago and apart from general support fowarding the ticket onto the admin department - know one else has replyed.
I even bumped the thing 5 times in total i think.... In the end i told them what i thought of there company but still the ticket remains open.

After another day i filled in a completely new ticket with a link showing them that knowone had replyed to the other. But what do they do with this, they simply do the exact same thing and forward it onto the admin department again. No explaination as to why no one had replyed, nothing.
This was like 3 days ago and as you may have guess there is no reply to this one either.

If you ask any sort of question like this on there support forum the admin will just ban you. No questions asked. He don't take no ---- at all.

But anyway all in all they have really pissed me off . All i want is for them to point my 3 domains to another server but no. :shame:

Is this true? I really want my domains transfered :tongue2:

This is going on with me right now.

I usually have to open 4 support tickets a day. I'm planning on posting all my tickets to a central forum or webspace for everyone to read.

1. They Lie and tell you it's your fault
2. They close tickets with no response or email
3. They fix one thing..and break another..then tell you it's your fault
4. Several times TECH has given me the wrong informaiton.
5. On occasion, the ADMIN gives the wrong informaition.

If you like lies, poor service, servers going down atleast once a day then HOSTULTRA is for you...oh ya, if you like wasting money

a new day, a new problem - HOST ULTRA's MOTO

I have had 13 tickets in 6 days with them...none of which are really resolved.

email me for more details : sadu222 at hotmail

I've seen a lot of people get banned on their forums for asking questions.

It seems that the free accounts are better than the paid from what I've seen and heard. Only thing bad about the free accounts are the gazillions of pop ups.

It seems that the free accounts are better than the paid from what I've seen and heard. It's unfortunate that you feel that way but I can understand why some people may get that impression when I hear about the terrible problems people have with their hosts. The important thing is to do lots of research before ordering from anyone. Also check how long they have been around and that their prices are realistic. ie. You get what you pay for. :)

I can't belive this WORLD of the Internet WE HUMANS CREATED. Its more used for illegal activities than Useful things. And mostly its uncontrolable. Its like making a programming language with a function to format Hard drives easyly witch causes people to use it for illegal activities.

HostUltra is a another scam. Thatis what you get when you give freedom to users (Starting Personal Servers in Contries that don't have Law restrictions on illegal computer activity).

Well some one should try to bring there servers down. For a LONG TIME aka a DDOS attack. Because if they want to do illegal suff they have to know that there are not the only contriy without restrictions on illegal computer activity,

But sadly there are softwares like toplayer that were also made to help people but can be use to run servers of hostultra (can't seem to ping hostultra). Can't someone file a law sute aganst them and bring them to the law??? I guess not. Do they use a Data Center and WTF are the DC doing?

I have to say that I feel more confertable with Free Hosting. Paid Hosting is nightmare!!

I would sergest this.....

Start a public bank account and use the money collected to DO ANY THING POSSIBLE TO BRING HOSTULTRA DOWN.

I just can't stand these illegal activity. Belive me I know (illegal Mp3, Wares, worms, cracks etc, etc,).

As I said in my post above, it may be a nightmare for people not willing to pay a reasonable amount for hosting, but those who buy from an established company for a reasonable price rarely have problems. It is pretty obvious that you are not going to have a good experience if the host is selling $300 worth of server resources for $30. :)

Even that = Rarely :(

I wish there were NO problems :(
