Some of you might have heard about the Code read worm. If you wanna know what the worm is about just go to symantec.com but the reason i started the thread is to show how stupid microsoft is. It identified the vulnerability due to which the code red worm executes. It released a patch about a month back and now it's own servers are hacked noteably windowsupdate.microsoft.com . Duh!
The worm propagates itself via Microsoft IIS Web servers through the .ida buffer overflow attack published a few weeks ago. The worm then sets itself up on the infected system and creates 99 other "threads" or instances of the virus to spread the worm to other Web servers.
Defaced windowsupdate site (http://www.safemode.org/mirror/2001/07/19/windowsupdate.microsoft.com/)
This makes the 16th time a Microsoft Web site has been defaced including the corporation's global sites in Brazil, Slovenia, New Zealand, Mexico, UK, Saudi Arabia and South Africa as well as six servers from their corporate headquarters.

LOL it is not necessary the PLA wrote this worm. Anyone in China could have done it. Like the I love you virus was written by a guy in the Phillipines that doesn't mean he works for the Fillipino Army.

I never had a nightmare since I was six. That is misleading, most Republicans (Who are Adults) I know never had a nightmare since they were children. Another blindly incorrect Liberal Attack on republicans. I did a survey myself.

It hasn't occured to you that that they maybe aren't all that open about themselves?
I friendly advice Giancarlo - so please don't start to yell. OK? :)
You've come out now, at least here on the board. There is no need for all the camouflage anymore. You have your own personality. Find it and let it bloom instead of keeping up all these attitudes. You said you felt better after telling about that you're bi. Fine. You'll feel swell when you can let go of the rest of the crap too. It's see-through anyway. LET GO, GC!

Keep it on topic this isn't a republican/democrat/other debate. :)

I am Republican. A Compassionate Republican who believes in Captialism. Read my explanation of captialism, you will know who I am. I cannot think like the left, my mind is center-right wing. Okay, you want to ask me about my political beliefs talk to me over PM or ICQ. Sorry Todd, I am addicted to politics.

What I commented wasn't about your political VIEWS. It was the other things you said. No, I don't wan't talk privately. Take it to the sex thread or start a new if you want to go on.

About the Chinese PRC? I was just kidding... geez, calm down. And my sexuality is still a sensitive area, so I don't like talking about it.

Back on topic... Does anyone find it absolutely horrible of Microsoft not to update their own server that hosts all the other updates? How could they miss that one...? I could understand a couple of their servers not getting the update because of bad organization but it's concerning to say the least that the server that gives everyone else their updates was easily exploitable.
Makes you wonder how many people have access to Microsoft's servers besides Microsoft employees.
Then again I like to take a cheap shot at Microsoft whenever I can... :)

Microshaft wants money, which is a fantastic idea, but not until the software becomes utter garbage.

What relevance does that have to the code red worm? :)

Sorry I ended my statement too early... Microsh*t spends too little on security.

In fact... They seem to spend too little on anything that they have already made. They spend a lot on new stuff though. For example: They spent a ton of cash on the X-Box, even thought much of that money is publicity stuff.

Microshaft is a marketing machine not a software giant. There products sell because they are very shrewd in marketing.
