I've seen some hosts don't want to host .be domains. What's so bad about them that people don't want to host them?

It is quite possible that the host doesn't know that everyone is buying them and assumes they are from Belgium when they only accept US/Canadian signups.
Beats me why anyone in another country would want a .be domain anyway :S

Probably because they are free. Remember the mass .info spread? :biggrin2:

DNS.BE is making a huge advertising campain, offering free .be domain names trough official agents like 1€ eurohost (www.1-eurohost.com).
If you see other websites giving away free ".be's", those are just ppl who register the domain name for you. Next year you will have to pay the full price and if they are smart enough, they will ask you more than the normal price of 9€. :shame:
So register your free .be's on your own account trough www.gratisbe.be now! :wink2:
EDIT: If you need a translation, just ask :).

.tk is not a TLD

Well it is basically to boost the domains popularity. If your site becomes popular and starts generating loads of traffic, you can easily make the small amount of money required to purchase the domain renewal.

td IS a TLD
TLD = Top Level Domain
ie
.co.uk is Second level domin (SLD)

.tk is a TLD, but it has ads and many other limitations. If you want to properly register a .tk domain, you would have to pay for it (the fees are yearly fees)...and that is the case for any other TLD except for when they have special offers (such as the previous .info one and the current .be one).
