If you are a starting to have your own web hosting company I would suggest you to start with a reseller account initially as this will save the costs. Later when you grow and have a good base of clients you can have your own server.

I'm sure he is well aware of getting a reseller, he just wants the information about the connection. I am not sure on the price, but all our servers have 100mbps connections, 10mbps can get a little slow with so many sites.

10mbps is not much slower than 100mbps, if you are using it for hosting only, not downloading, streaming... also, it depends on your provider network. remember, your server can connect to 100mbps port, but it's LAN only. And if that switch is connected to 10mbps port, it is still limited :)

btw, I am not sure to understand what the OP wants. smilegood, if you want to start a web hosting company, take a look at what you want to do
- if you just want to offer hosting to end-users, take a look at a reseller account
- if you want to provide reseller accounts and dedicated servers as well, try to contact with some companies have dedicated server reseller program
- if you want to provide colo service, you need to contact with providers offering colo services, or build your own datacenter. In this case, many other things need to do

from the sounds of it he wanted to start a server and host things from his house. I am doing this however with my server I am only hosting one website and the website is loaded really fast. If you want to test out the website on here ask me... although I don't have really anything on the website because I'm using windows not linux ;)
