I've been on a search for a free host that offers this...
But it seems like the only ones who do have the extremely annoying pop-ups and whatnot as well.
I'm looking for something with 20MBs (though more wouldnt hurt)--any suggestions on hosts?
I know Hypermart offers this--but with the kind of traffic I'm anticipating for this project they'll slap a full-page popup on there.
Too much to ask for? I was referred to prohosting, but they only allow chmod to 0755 : /

it might sound petty--but ikonboard hacks
i've been noticing that a lot of the nicer features (personal avatars, poll hacks, file attachment, friend list) all require you to chmod to 0777--the ones that i've found anyway

You've got it.
And had already checked out netfirms as well--no go, only 755.
I'm thinking it might not be a possibility on a freehost.

yupapa allows it, but at the moment Yupapa.com is not accepting new free signups... you have to wait till the middle of August

Not too many free hosts out there that likes a bulletin board like that on their servers, maybe you should try paid hosting or just wait till yupapa(never thought I would say this) reopens.

I tried f2s first.
And their site (yupapa) only mentions in their forums that the free hosting would be back possibly in august, nothing about the features of the hosting...

if anyone was wondering how i solved this--a good friend of mine let me have some space on his www.clanpages.com paid account--i've used them before and they're pretty good
i dont know if their free hosting is worth much though, no cgi
