Oh boy, I just started getting this error displaying on my PHP-Nuke site's index page a few days ago:

Parse error: parse error, unexpected $ in /home/dummy/public_html/includes/sql_layer.php on line 386

How can I fix this??? :doh!:

Thanks

Update: I attached the file so you can fix/edit it for me as I don't know PHP.

Well, if you know any PHP, go and make sure that the syntax is right. If not, attach the file and some FWS members will probably look at it.

Um, line 386 is blank...

Found it. Add two closing brackets to the end of the file. That might not work, but it'll fix the parse error :)

OK, I ended up installing a new copy of nuke and copying all of the new files over that I needed to replace the currupted files. I did this to save my database. Turns out, many of the folders and files were currupted.

Anyways, I got everything working good again, or so I thought until I tried to login to the admin.php page. For some reason, I am getting redirected to a 404 page after entering my admin username/passwword combo on the admin.php login page? It seems to direct me here:
www.mystupidnukesite.com/.php

There is no file there? ...why is it doing this? ...how can I fix this?
Everything else on the PHP Nuke website works fine.

It's supposed to just stay on "admin.php" after authentification and give you access to the admin interface. Instead it is sending me to this url ".php"

Thanks for all of your help as I am about to cry! ... I have been up since like 3:00am working on this website. :doh!:

my suggestion... delete all the files that were there, re-upload them after downloading a new copy. Than try to install it again... if that doesn't help go to the official post nuke website and post they can help you for sure.

alley,
Ask your web host to look at the problem. None of us has any access, not possible to see what the problem is with the information given. Also files don't usually just corrupt after installation.

Try downloading them from another website. Or from PHP-Nuke's website itself.

I'm not sure if .zip files have the capability, but get a MD5 checksum from the website. tar.gz files can do that. See if they offer a download of tar.gz's.
