Roms are illegal, but emulators aren't. I don't plan to host anything illegal at all. I will not host anything that is copyrighted. Until you understand what emulation really is, I'd suggest not jumping to conclusions.;) take the site that I moderate for example: http://www.ngemu.com/forums They are totally legal and don't host roms/console bios files.
striker November 29th, 2005, 23:45 is your vBulletin legal?

I own a licence for it, if that's what you mean. :/

Actually he said emualtor BOARD, its like a warez forum but without all the hosting.
And that is legal regardless.
aGigNETWORK November 30th, 2005, 00:02 Greetings,
Thank you for the forum posts. We currently host over 1,700 web sites and are adding many more each and every day. Our support forum is the best place to post a topic if you have an issue while creating your account.
Thank you for your support.
generalplot November 30th, 2005, 00:07 Actually he said emualtor BOARD, its like a warez forum but without all the hosting.

Actually, it's not going to be related to warez at all. People get the misconception that emulation=warez. It is a technical support discussion board for people needing help with using an emulator. Also, for showing news related to emulation. There will be absolutely NO information found on my site/board that will tell anyone where/how to find any sort of copyrighted material. On the contrary, it will be a major rule of the forums that no content like that will be allowed.;) Showing screenshots of games running in an emulator, emulation news and emulation help are not the same as some site hosting external links to torrents or other forms of file sharing, etc... Again, I invite you to take a look at http://www.ngemu.com/forums and tell me if you're able to find anything like what you're describing. They have strict rules and administrators on their board, and I plan to as well.;)
Hypernic November 30th, 2005, 00:20 Thats why I said its like a warez forum. You can post links to rom sites from your forum and it would still be legal.
Its only hosting them thats illegal, as well as sharing and etc.

No information at all pertaining to outside information will be allowed. If a question comes up about it, the thread would be immediately moderated and user warned/banned. Not even outside links to such sites will be allowed. I plan to keep it as legal as I am able to.;)
Hypernic November 30th, 2005, 00:29 Thats the thing. It is legal, its not my decision what rules you have, but if your forum did link to roms then its 100% legal.
Just helping you out thats all.

Gotcha.;) Yeah, the legality worries me. I wouldn't want to put myself or my host in any sort of jeapordy.:)
striker November 30th, 2005, 00:41 Now that it's all legal I am interested! Is it just for PC Emulation, or console-console emulation as well (i.e. Dreamcast, X-Box)
generalplot November 30th, 2005, 00:45 Now that it's all legal I am interested! Is it just for PC Emulation, or console-console emulation as well (i.e. Dreamcast, X-Box)
I plan to cover a large variety of console emulation, including Dreamcast, XBox, PS2, Gamecube and retro console emulation. But it will more than likely be a majority of console emulators for PC, as console on console emulation is something I'm not too familiar with.:P However, it's not something that I wouldn't be willing to consider.:)
Edit: OK, got my activation, and uploaded all my forum files. But it seems the ads cause a common problem. Sometimes they interfere with the dynamic rendering of the pages that vBulletins generates. Turns out this is the case here. I've had this happen before, but I was hoping it wouldn't this time. But alas, the screenshots show what I'm talking about. I can complete the install for the forums, but afterwards, it's a blank page.:S I've followed all the install steps, but there's no way around this problem. It's a known issue. Oh well, better luck to someone else. I'll use the hosting for something else I guess.

Blank page is a GZIP Issue and its known in the Support Forums. If you can disable GZIP Compression on VB, You will be fine.

Even the admin control panel comes up blank, so I have no way of disabling the GZIP compression, since I can't even enter the admin panel to turn it off.:(
Edit: Actually, looking at the page source makes it appear that the footer for the advertising put at the bottom of the site may be causing the problem.:S This was the same problem I had with a different host.
Ahmaz November 30th, 2005, 06:08 Nope, It's definitely GZIP that causes the blank pages because AGFF doesn't currently support GZIP. I'm sure there is a way to turn off GZIP..try the VB Support Forums.

I don't think AGFF gives out VB licenses...and you cannot 'share' them as you need one license per VB instance.
However, In AGFF's CPanel feature, Fantastico, you can install a copy of PHPBB2 which is sort of similar to VB.
holydevil November 30th, 2005, 09:42 hey can i park extra domain coz i have 4 domains btw im signin up now

aGigNETWORK November 30th, 2005, 11:05 Greetings,
GZIP is the problem. If you PM me on our forums I can make a work around for you. Once VB has GZIP turned off it will work just fine.

Yes, AGFF supports multiple blogging systems like Wordpress, b2evolution and more. Some can even be installed through their Fantastico feature.

I understand, I was a bit worried about that when I started a forum like that myself. The "loophole" is too post links to warez.
Glad to be of help.
P.S Most hosts will allow this so your good. I suggest you ask the support people if you have any other questions.
