From what I gather, it's just a news script. I don't see why it's so popular. Maybe I'm missing something, but I wrote my own short piece of code that allows my staff to post news and it is displayed beautifully at http://www.hoopsavenue.f2s.com/misc/news.php?section=misc&page=news
Is my style so much different from PHP Nuke?

Woah man! Watch it. Don't ever criticize php nuke in public. ;)
It's basically content management with module support. It's cooll because you don't have to change your layout drastically when you want to add something new. Read more about it and you will come to know more.

i heard that phpnuke has serious security problems. is that true?
