Better is subjective..

All three can do about the same things with enough tweaking.

The way I always look at this is if you want one for free then you use phpBB. If you're going to buy one it might as well be vBulletin.

If you have the wallet for it, go with Lithuim. I find that it's fantastic for running large communities. But vB is the next best option.

Yes, they have old out of date forums! But they are good!

I checked out googlefight and it said PHPBB is the best compared to IPB but that just means how many results are on google.

I don't like Vbulletin...at all.

I highlt disklike IPB as well. Just the way it is managed.

PhpBB is okay, still not very good.

YaBB is the best so far, but I still don't like it.

SMF is the board for me.

Although, I would prefer UBB to all, but I don't have the money for it.

Want a real forum battle? How about ebaumsworld vs. the rest of the Internet it takes content from and doesn't give credit to? :p

For those people that don't know anything about it (and if you're not a goon or someone that pays attention to these things then I don't expect you to), ebaumsworld.com's forums were invaded on January 7th by an angry mob of users seeking to down the database after ebaumsworld stole an idea off YTMND.

It's obviously phpbb - the other two suck majorly.

Especially IPB - I can't believe there's even an option for it, the fourm system doesn't even have proper email notification handling.

vbulletin is the only thing that comes close to phpbb, but it still sucks.

As for phpbb 3 (Olympus), well it's so good, you'd be insane to pay for anything else.

It's got a gazillion features, puts all other forum software away easily.
