Magica December 26th, 2005, 10:29 I need some advice, as to what/which webhost company I can go with, that I can trust as reliable. I used 1t3.com earlier...HUGE mistake. I paid 2 years in advance, and after 1 year they wanted me to "renew" it, and of course also pay more. From my sent 18 mails asking WHY, they answered 2...and always with the same thing; "We don't understand your question." So there went $100 right out into thin air. What some may not know, is that they also run the site http://www.FeBox.com. Please stay away from these guys. :mad2:
Soooo....now I'm looking for a reliable host, with at least 5 gb's of space and preferably unmetered bw. I trust your inputs and reviews based on experience.
Thanks so much in advance!
Ako December 26th, 2005, 10:41 I think its better to pay monthly, not for 2 years. And if you see that the company is relaible, pay for more.
I think that you should look for a VPS or a high reseller account, because not many offer unmetered BW for shared accounts.

Koh December 26th, 2005, 11:02 the regulars around here are pretty trustyworthy/reliable, you might just want to look around.
~GURU~ December 26th, 2005, 12:59 I think that you actually check out a few hosts on this forum that offer paid hosting. Try and talk to the webmasters themselves. Check out their site and check in which ways can they offer you support. That is most important.
Secondly paying per 2 years is something that you should not do, also look for hosts that let you either pay per month or Quarterly something like that.
Anyhow goodluck!

LSComputers December 26th, 2005, 13:00 Agreeded, 2 years is to far ahead, always go no more then 1 year.!
TJR Networks December 26th, 2005, 18:19 I agree, don't pay more than a year in advance, especially if it is a more expensive hosting plan like you need. Avoid hosts claiming to offer unmetered bandwidth. Work out how much you need and a find a host that offers that much for a reasonable price (by reasonable, I don't mean the cheapest or the most expensive. Somewhere in the middle is the best place to look).
Are you just looking for recommendations at the moment Magica, or offers as well? :)
Paul White December 26th, 2005, 18:22 Try the 'Baby' shared plan at HostGator! They are great, and offer top-notch support! Check them out...

If you haven't tried them yourself please refrain from bashing them.

I am not sure people who have actually tried unmetered bandwidth would recommend their host, they usually end up disappointed ;)

Ok now i am confused :
Agreeded, 2 years is to far ahead, always go no more then 1 year.!
Anyways hope u understood.
Anyways jan yes its reasonable not to tell that some host that u didnt try are bad , but if u check their support (which most can) u will know for urself and jd most probably meant the support side.
Cheers.
LSComputers December 27th, 2005, 10:29 Yes I ment the support side, Iv had clients, and have read some post regarding them, and there slow to react, and sometimes very rude support staff. In regards to the posts about advice and such. I was refering some different places to go to for great hosting. However I guess Jan doesnt want me to.. so ill delete the above posts that were blocked.
FeBox September 23rd, 2006, 23:16 Just chiming in here because we care very much about our reputation and image. I found this through an MSN search.
FeBox has never been affiliated at all with 1t3.com. Magica most likely assumed that we were 1t3.com because of us owning the IP address. We are a dedicated server provider with many large web hosts on our network. An IP lookup would make it look like we are affiliated with 1t3.com, when we clearly are not. Thank you.

AvailNetworks September 24th, 2006, 13:16 most every company has a good fit for a certain client, you will have to figure that portion out on your own.
Next time you are ready to choose a host, ask a few pre-sales questions, gauge their response and if you feel comfortable sign up for a month-month contract. Once you have been with them for awhile if you so choose to pay yearly then go for it.
As mentioned earlier unlimited/unmetered is not the way to go, evaluate your needs and choose accordingly
