I have created a new discussion site for people to talk about anything under the sun...but not sure how to get more members to sign up. :confused4

Anyone care to share your experience on how to build up a successful community site?

You need to start interesting topics so that people will want to read and participate in your forums. You should be actively involved. Get someone else who is good at initiating threads.
Classify the topics.

I agree with everyone else. Come up with some other topics and get more actively involved. Think about getting someone to join your team and helping you.

They have to get the forum growing and make a lil something with it before they can start doing that.

Spam as many forums/chatrooms/newsgroups as possible.

I suggest giving some sort of incentive or affiliating with some larger sites, whether they'll accept you or not is another probelm though

There are a lot of Singaporean forums around, that could be a good start. Show it in your signature. If you are into hosting forums, then try posting (within guidelines of course) at http://www.sgwebhostingtalk.com/ and place it in your signature. Search google for other SG forums that you may be interested in.
