I have just registered a domain name with godaddy. I also signed up for their domain direction service. At the same time, I have a website at Geocities.

question is, how do I unpark my domain and point it to my geocities website? do I have to change any DNS or IP setting?

As you can see, I don't know much about domain configuration. I have no idea how godaddy configures my account. so, can any kind person please instruct me what to do step-by-step?

thanks

you can either do:

1. Change to a different host, I suggest netfirms (you get 10 more megs of space than geo----ties) and point your domain to netfirms' nameservers

or

2. Use zoneedit.com and point your domain to their nameservers, then use URL redirection to geo----ties.

i suggest the top one become URL redirection requires a middle man (zoneedit)

well,, I actually have an account with mydomain.com

but where can I find the name of mydomain's "nameserver"? Also, once I find it, what do I do? please give me more details and step-by-step. I am a very very beginner in domain registration.

lately, mydomain has been down, so i suggested zoneedit

you can get mydomain's name servers in their help section. also, you may want to upgrade your domain's status to MyDNS afterwards so you can use @yourdomain email addresses

hi, thanks hayama-kun for all the help. So, can I just summarize what I have to do and can you let me know if it is correct?

1.Register a domain name (which I have done)
2.Park it at http://www.godaddy.com ( I did it today at godaddy.com)
3.Join a service like mydomain.com
4.Redirect my domain name (ie granulomata.com) to my website (ie http://allanh.host.sk)?

is that all? Do I have to adjust any ip or name server setting?
