I want to get started on making a text-based game (while learning loads of PHP and mySQL in the process. Are there any resources out there that could help me get started on such a project?

or has anyone finished or attempted to make a text-based game? some advice would be helpful :)

I don't know what you're looking for and have not been programming a game myself, seems pointless when there's cool games like Counter-Strike :P
