Apache help...

I really can't remember if I'm supposed to be posting this kind of question here but oh well...

OK. Today, to the advice of many people I've talked with on the web, I bought a PHP book to help me learn it. It's a great book, I think, and it also includes a CD with MySQL Shareware Version, Apache WebServer, and PHP4. I installed MySQL with only one one problem but fixed that on my own. I've now installed Apache, btw it's Apache 1.3.12, and I can't get this thing going. I followed all of the instructions that are said in the book. I changed the httpd.conf file's attributes of serveradmin and servername to what it told me. (I'm using localhost since I'm just running this off of my own computer for my own uses.) And it still doesn't work. I try clicking on the apache program, a DOS winodw pops up but then goes away as soon as it pops up. I try just going from the MS-DOS Prompt to the file. It comes up with a message there saying...

"APACHE.EXE: cannot determine local host name.
Use the ServerName directive to set it manually."

Then shows back at C:\program files\apache group\apache\>

What am I supposed to do? I want to get php going so I can write my own scripts and databases. Thanks in advance.

did you set the servername to localhost? you're supposed to set it to 127.0.0.1 i believe.
