There is a hosted version of IPB 1.3, but as with all hosted message boards, you are limited as to what you can do with it. It is called InvisionFree. www.invisionfree.com

Yes, but it's illegal to obtain IPB from any other source than IPS' website. IPS doesn't distribute 1.3 anymore, so if you get it from anywhere it's illegal. If you do that, just go ahead and get a nulled 2.1.3 board and get it over with. It's just as legal as the 1.3 board will be.

IB is completely legal also, you just have to pay for the new version. But, I think we're in the same boat. phpBB is much more customizable, and the phpBB community is awesome!

Any open source board will run into problems, but I've been using phpBB over any other software for quite awhile now, and the issue is usually found, before someone can take advantage of it.

Also, because it's open source, if you get hacked, you just ask for help, and you're usually back up and running smooth within hours.

btw. You can easily get a trial of IPB from net. But it's seems illegal. But if you've one it's totally legal to use it in your site.

For vB lovers i recomond myBB latest version. It's just a near perfect clone of vBulletin & even the control panlel is just the same. A number of hacks & skins are available at there site itself. :)

phpbb is to easy to hack. IPB or vbulletin is the best i have seen but they come at a cost.

The 2.0 trial is legal to use as well as 1.3 Final IF YOU ALREADY have a copy - but go ahead and get one from someone else. Not as if they would know when and where you got it ;)

I know the creator of k4BB :)... he gave me a few pointers here and there on php but mostly told me to be quiet because I was asking too many times, rofl... but yeahg K4BB looks pretty much like vBulletin :D

IPS cannot do anything, in this situation, as the user is not distributing it on a webpage nor is there any proof.

and i think it may be the normal verison as to make it the multi frum version you have to edit files.....

but your best bet is with phpBB. it's better and free. and safer.

VBB and IPB has less features and act like a crappy system.
Saving lots of option to cache_store is like an idiot.

They have no way to tell where you downloaded 1.3 final from, I would disagree on the nullified vs the 1.3 download.

It's not like they can come to your site with the 1.3 and say "You downloaded this board from (site here) on (date) , it's illegal, take it down!" they wont have a clue as long as you never say where you got it. It could have been on your pc forever for all they know.

The nullified one, you never know... it's nullified but no one is really sure, if you do get reported to invision if they have a way to track down people. The only way you'd get in trouble I suppose is if some disgruntled user who suspects you for whatever reason, or if you told someone and they backstab you.

Still 1.3 original is safer to me than using a nulled board.

I tryed downloading this but when installing it came up with loads of SQL junk, did it do that for you?

Try clearing the database and install again (if you still having problems)
