I'm posting this for the record as a service to anyone looking for a uk based host.
I moved my site to uk2.net in late August 2000. At the time, the hosting deal offered everything that I needed. Over the first ten months, the service was fine. There were a couple of minor, short outages but nobody delivers 100% uptime and I was generally happy.
In July 2001, I have suffered from six outages. Three concerned the site going down, twice for about eight hours, once for a shorter period.
The others were an ftp outage which lasted for almost a day, the disappearence of the webmaster status-control panel and currently, the loss of all log file entries for the last half week.
It appears that they have some serious problems with their hosting operation at the moment.
