The domain extension only has 4 characters as co.uk, me.uk, co.nz, co.jp, etc has, that's good! Always fun to be special and not always use same domains as others does even if they are free :)

How could you complain when you get it for free? You should be thankful.
You can only complain if they promise something and then can't back that up, but I don't see anywhere where they wrote that they are the fastest webhost in here, their site seems to go fast so I really doubt their services are slow.

Nope, it's down. The server is up and running (responds to pings) but it's refusing http connections.

Yikes. I really hope their backup strategy doesn't involve taking the server down for hours at a time. I'd rather have a host that didn't do backups than one that goes down that much for backups.

fskof
January 19th, 2006, 08:19
Yeah, the mysql server's been saying "too many connections" and refusing new connections for at least 10 hours now.

Your databases probably aren't really gone, that's just a side effect of cpanel not being able to connect to mysql. Once they fix that everything should be there, unless there are other issues.

Hey!

We were not entirely sure what was causing this problem, but It has been resolved now. We may be moving to an even better server at the end of the month. If we do decide to move, there will be little to NO downtime. I think weve had more then enough downtime to last 3 webhost's lifetime! :eek2:

I will inform everyone closer to the time!
Thanks for supporting us!

I would just like to add:

The problems experienced with MySQL and downtime have now all been smoothed out. It was mainly just down to setup problems, but now that we are settled you will experience a very reliable service.

If you have any questions, or any feedback about our hosting please post here and I will be glad to reply.

Because its free! They have problems with server, and they are trying to fix them asap (from what i understood). So if you can't afford $1 per month for something, dont post stupid comments, about reliability, after all they are helping you not you them.

I assure you that my website being down constantly does not help me, in fact it hurts me. I didn't realize they made no profits from offering this service, especially a post-to-host service like the one they offer. Also, free does not have to mean unreliable, I've seen some reliable free hosts out there. If all of these hosts would just get together, putting their money and profits together, then maybe we could get something that we could depend on.

The comment I made was not stupid, it was an opinion based on what they are offering and what I am actually getting, which is a headache.

Ammo
February 10th, 2006, 16:10
We have not banned anything to my recolection, It could however be our hosts.

To stabalise we have no made it so all mysql connections are closed once they are not being used, we were having alot of people leaving connections open in bad coding clogging up the server alot. HOpefully this will help alot if not we'll get to the problem in the end.

I cann't agree with you. :D The reason is simple. Many people out there are looking for free hosting. It's not just becoz they cann't afford a $4/ month. The paymnet options are CC's & in US$, which most of the begginers don't have.
If someone offer me a free hosting service it's not just free. either i've to put ads or i should visit their forums. So it's the matter of mutual understanding & help .

After all dd.am is a good host. I was with'em when they were Ariel-Networkz. Dan is always a kind admin.:) I think he could manage the over CPU load issues. The old AN dead in the same way as someone put a CPU internsive crap in to the server. This time you've a dedicated one, so besat wishes to be up & working.:)

Any word on what's going on with this host? They've had a lot of reboots and intermittent outages, but they've been down almost all day. Their DNS is down, so can't get to their main web site. I can still get to my site (it's not on the dd.am DNS servers) but my database seems to be gone.
