My site is hosted on Lunarpages. Uptime is very time. Also Lunarpages is very known company in the hosting industry.

I don't like their price tricks. 7,95/mo* but when you read bellow under the "*" it says "when paid annually" and other shortest option is 3 months which makes the price 9,95 monthly with 30 bucks setup fee. I've heard a lot about Lunarpages as a very reliable host though and most likely it worths the money spent.

These marketing techniques work in real life :tired2:That is correct in many respects. When people see cheap prices they are pulled towards them. However, it is all about what market you target. Our main market isn't the ultra budget, though we do pick up a few customers from these forums, but rather the middle of the market. If you think about it, $20-30 per month isn't a huge amount of money for small businesses to spend on shared hosting, and most will pay that much if they know they are getting reliable hosting with excellent customer service. I suspect the majority of the large overseller's customers are teenagers that are short on cash rather than people with serious websites. :-)

Some companies are just cheap, whethere some are inexpensive, theres a huge difference and lunarpages is inexpensive.

I can say they are popular enough and we might not put on comment their reliability. |t the same time there are lot of shared hosting providers that offer the same features. Powweb are one of them. But I can suggest you not to follow the large numbers of space and bandwidth. You may never use them. At the same time someone always need good support on scripting and etc.

You may or may not know that hosting companies pay for those positions. They are not judged by the webmaster, site creator nor any affiliate with the directory website. I would say 95% of web hosting companies that are on "TOP" positions like that pay to have those marks. However, there are some "true" hosting awards given out by top directories such as but not limited to tophosts.com, theWHIR, and webhostingmagazine.com.

As far as the lunarpages go, webhosting companies in a whole are a dime a dozen. Consumers are going to have their favorites and their most hated. All service and support good or bad given to customers is basically an opinion of the customer. Who is to say that Lunarpages is not dealing better support than 1and1, or HostWay? Or Visa Versa??

Ahh! Good response there and I agree totally. Its gets "old" after awhile doesnt it? Its sad that people CANNOT rely on some of the directories. Too bad some of these directories dont put their own banners up that read:
WE MAKE MONEY OFF OUR WEB HOST ADVERTISERS!
BECAUSE people genuinely think that host is in a number one spot because they offer the best deal for the cheapest price. Its sad.

Very true! Web hosting directories (besides from the top few) really should not do customers that way, nor their visitors of the directory. However, this is how the world works, and sadly enough that will never change.
