I was hoping to get a domain hosted at a cheap price and with some
certain features.
Here are the criteria:
-cloaked URL forwarding because I don't want to pay for a host. Only
want the domain handled. (ie. www.domain.com masks mysite.freehost.com and www.domain.com/subdir masks mysite.freehost.com/subdir)
-unlimited or sufficient subdomains 5+ prefferably 10+ to unlim.
-email forwarding , all to one account and the ability to set certain
addresses to a diff. account. (POP3 as well would be great!)
-ability to change nameservers easily
-MX records access

and of course reliability and cheap price
i would more likely want to deal with an Australian domain manager
thingy if possible but shouldnt really be necessary. (just that handling in AUD$ is easier for me- i live in australia)

I was thinking of getting www.webcity.com.au to hold my domain

and then using www.mydomain.com to have the services

any suggestions/pointers/warnings?

I was wondering if theres a better choice than webcity and also if there
were any other online services for free like mydomain.com in case that
company decides to start charging for its services (happens all the
timeo n the net)

what other suggestions do people have for this?

combinations of different services?

i choose webcity casue it gives domain forwarding in case mydomain.com starts giving ads or goes down and the same might happen to zoneedit.com

thanks very much in advance

sorry this is so long and parts could have been in different forum but its basically domain name suggestions with different services but i didnt want to cross post

I would rather get a cheap host. Their are plenty, domain forwarding is ok if you really are very tight on the money front.

But to get a cheap host would be best. Webcity.com.au is very expensive, you can register domains from godaddy.com for $8.95 $9.95 with url cloaking (forwarding).

Just a question when u do a whois on a powerpipe.com domain does it say anything about it being bought from powerpipe or does it say enom is the registrar?

Thanks

but webcity.com.au is in aussie dollars meaning about half what they say in us$

15-17US$ is expensive?

but what if the domain management free services die?

then im left with nothing

and anyone know if hn.org allows forwarding to a site like

mysite.freehost.com/whatever

casue in their faq they say no but mydomain.com can do it

thanks again
