Does anyone know a way to force ads in IIS?

Use an asp script, or java script, or SSI, or .......

Bit short on info to tell you any more, what's all running, just vanilla IIS or is Active PERL running, any other add-ons.

Bit more info and someone might be able to help :)

well i can install what ever is needed. It is just that I have found alot of info on how to do this for apache using mod_config but none for IIS.

Just to be clear on what I am wanting to do - I offer free hosting on a win 2003 ent. server using IIS and z-panel. I want to have ads on all of my users pages, whether they want them to be there or not. I dont think I can use asp for this becuase it would require them to keep the code on their page, and most people would probably take it off.

I was wondering if maybe headers could do it or an ISAPI module somethign along these lines?

Yep there are ways - but can I just ask a question?

For 25 clients + server license for MS 2003 Server it's $1800 (best price I've found) and your using a free control panel, any chance this is not a legit version?

And this is not the web server version, but the 'simple' enterprise version (as in it runs enterprise apps and corp support for domain management) which does not allow open use outside a declaired intranet as far as I know without license clarification & certification.

Basically 'enterprise' versions are used by MS certified partners - that is major companies. You know silly little multi nationals.

If you can convince us of the legalities then you might get more help.

But you don't need CALS to host do you, only if its on a network where PC's are connected to it. And I have seen win 2003 enterprise for £400 with 5 cals

If it exceeds the license accesses then you have to buy a pack.

The web version is slightly different if licenced for 'Internet' rather than 'Intranet'

Oh and the enterprise version is seldom used as a web server.

My whole goal with this is marketing.

The reason I am paying for 2003 server and not for the CP is because the customers are receiving this service for free. I use SPLA liscensing with web addition for their access and ent server for my deployment purposes. I have a large number of cals for ENT server becuase I also offer dedicated servers to paying customers.

The marketing aspect is that I provide to my clients the use of win 2003 with a free cp, in the hopes that the service is what the desire and they will upgrade to a paid membership offering more features and plesk as teh CP

I have ran the numbers and it does work I just need a good conversion of free to paying. the way my scenario runs the extra SPLA should pay for itself with new paying member singups in 16 months. I ran the same type of thing when i began offering ms sql 2005 in relation to mysql.

So your an MS Gold Partner?

Reason I ask Is that I police this stuff on a daily basis within my role.

The clients may not pay but do you - or should?

If you are a registered Microsoft Service Provider License Agreement (SPLA) holder then you will have access to all the support routes - and one of
them is not to incude "Does anyone know a way to force ads in IIS?"

Any questions - http://www.microsoft.com/serviceproviders/licensing/default.mspx

External use of that software without license is really being hammered now so take care.

Running a web server on something that is not licenced will be picked up - warning to all MS OS's are now doing active authentiity checks, and reporting back to a central DB.

Try a corp build and updates if it's over a year old.

I dont understand what your asking me / telling me. As I already said I pay using SPLA the clients do not directly pay, the pay a portion through advertisments and I am making an investment doing this and expecting to get my ROI in 16 months as I stated before.

Also your saying that just becuase I have access to MS support I shouldnt use this mesage board to ask the question that I asked? If this is what your saying I dont understand why.

The remainder of what you said must have been intended for everyone that does not have paid copies of server 2003.

Do you know how much a license costs to use an MS product.

You seem to be using one that you have no idea of the results of use.

The usage is is licensed to a group of users, as in a number.

Point one - where did you get it.
Point two - how did you get it online.
Point three - why did you not look into this before.

There is one other option - you are not using
win 2003 ent. server but a web server rented version.

I didn't say anything about anyone else

Also your saying that just becuase I have access to MS support I shouldnt use this mesage board to ask the question that I asked? If this is what your saying I dont understand why.

I have access too but don't run servers without license. It's not legal. Don't get the board into trouble. I can download the latest directly in my role. But I will not abuse or misunderstand it.

If it is not the alternative I'd recommend - well hidding! As someone will come looking for you.
