GRRR! I am so frustrated! I'm trying to find a server to store Zip files, right? But it's totally impossible to find anything that fits all my needs! Can anyone help me find a site that fits all of the following criteria?
- At least 11 MB of webspace (although I need about 180MB)
- File transfer limit of at least 5MB (it dosen't have to be more than 11MB, tho)
- As much bandwidth as possible (I'm not really worried about it right now)
- WORKING FTP ACCESS! I NEED FTP ACCESS NO MATTER WHAT!
- If it's a storage site, it needs to allow others to access it without asking for a password or some kind of authorization by me.
I don't care about pop-ups or banners or any of that crap cuz I'm only gonna use it for storage. If you can help me in any way, PLEASE DO!

sorry sis, but all the warez, hotlinking, storage sites are gone.

yeah, true. But it's more of a casual suffix to attach to friends' names, kinda like -chan, only less childish. You can call girls -kun, too...

Or you could sign up for multiple yahoo accounts then use those for multiple geocities.com accounts. They have FTP. Each site gets 15 megs of space. Your yahoo.com username and password are the same for your geocities account. I'm not sure about what their bandwidth limits are but my friend had an anime site that got around 2000 hits/day and geocities didn't care. He also had files that people downloaded and that used up a bunch of bandwidth. So Geocities might be your choice but you need an index.html or an index.cgi ect. ect. or they will delete your account within a week..... hope that helps

HTML-Guru~
I FTP'd a 3MB .zip to a geocities website last week & they weren't happy about it.
They disabled FTP & removed all files from the site. It wasn't warez, it was a couple .wavs & .gifs for a group project.
No warning, reason, nothing. No biggie, just letting anyone reading this know not to waste their time trying geocities.
Later~

MP3s ARE illegal if you don't own the permission or copyright to them. pay hosts, even dedicated hosts wont let you store illegal material.

I know that...my MP3s are copyrighted to me...

MP3 is outdated. Why can't you use WMA 8? Tell your provider that they're your stuff. Or: become an artist at mp3.com.

cuz I'm using them for a download site...and they're only copyrighted to me cuz I own the CDs, they're not my original music...it's anime music --;;

you don't have the license to redistribute that material and thus it is illegal

cheer up, if you can get the money to lease a dedicated server from unrestrictedNET, you can post all the animé music the HD can handle (as long as you dont go over the monthly transfer limits) ;)

I'm thinking about just going ahead and registering a domain name...but I can't find a site that bills you by mail...my last credit card got "compromised" :(
niv
August 1st, 2001, 18:10
you can register with money orders. gkg.net does that (9.99 a year for up to 10 years)

I'm hoping you don't actually believe this. If so, that's scary.

This is called paid hosting. No legitimate host is going to allow you to store illegal files on their servers if they know about it. Not even unrestricted.net (the name may give you some false preconceived notions).
Discussions about warez is not permitted at freewebspace.net so you're on your own.
