wow, thats some request, #1 unlimited bandwidth isnt real, #2 750GB disk space?......ok. What is your budget? or do you want this for free.
Ako
February 4th, 2006, 19:19
Approximatle this will cost like $700 a month. I think you should get a VPS with low specs as for now, then upgrade to a dedicated. While to order such big server, is just a waste of money.

He said he would let you put ads on his site...other than that...no payment....
some people just never learn..

750GB is not reasonable unless you already have a large client base. At least 150 clients. Even that doesn't really justify 3/4 TB of disk space.

Your looking at a shared NAS at that request, cost = astronomical
I think you should revisit your post MATSTA
Both of the basics are unreasonable.

Takes money to make money. This will never happen. First incorporate your business name. Try creating a business plan. If you are over 18 try and get a loan after submitting a business plan through SBA or some other lender. Then go from there if you are wanting to open a serious web hosting firm. If not save up anywhere from $30-40 a month and go with a repsectable hosting provider. Grow your business with a good client base first, then maybe consider a dedicated server. After obtaining 5-6 dedicated boxes from a respectable web hosting provider, start looking at buying servers out right or on credit either with CDW, RackmountECT, ServersDirect, Dell, etc. After this, look at the pricing of switchs (foundry, juniper, etc) Then, look at your options with a carrier hotel, get two or three bandwidth providers for redundancy on atleast a 10Mbps commit with 100Mbps burstable. Contact cPanel, plesk or ensim...or perhaps all three and partner NOC with them. Then contact the carrier hotel and find out how much power you will need to run your servers, routers, switches...etc etc. After than advertise, advertise, advertise to make your overhead costs drop to the ground, and your debt to ratio lower.
As you see that's not the only problems you will face when starting a good company. I have seen SO many "hosting" companies start up just within 2005-06, but only a handfull are decent to very good providers. This happens with a good finacial backing, and a good understanding of the industry. Your request for 750GB space, and unlimited bandwidth...and for FREE with ads tells us one thing...you do not have a very good understanding of the business, and this is where hosting providers offer $2 packages and expect to make money off of that...no way!
If you really want to start a hosting company, look at all your options. Get a good idea of how servers, the industry, and smaller companies start off.
I know this probably wasn't the right post you were looking for. However, it had to be said

The post indicates that you have to learn a lot, so I'd recommend you to look for a free host. Check here freewebspace section you will get number of offers.

Matsta,
You *MAY* be able to find a free reseller on here or elsewhere. But I as well as many others HIGHLY suggest that if you are serious about what you are trying to do then you'll need to invest into it atleast ALITTLE. Don't just jump in because of what you think you may make, because is most reality you will only ruin the market even more by contributing to it something thats not backed by anything.
I don't mean to come at you as being harsh but only truthful. What are you going to do if users need support? Scripts? Billing system? System tech? What prices will you operate at? Business plan? All these things really count and a reseller account is just that, a reseller account. Back it up with something.

The only free reseller I found on the we is the Resellerpanel. They just offer you a prescripted hosting site & you need to add your domain to your account. You earn commisions for each sale.. :)

Well, unlimited is just unrealistic, its impossible. Maby agigforfree.com can get you a small free reseller i heard. Very hard to get one, but if you try hard you could. Good luck,

People with huge hosting companies don't generally use that much disk either. If you have that much disk content, the CPU, evne if a big one, will most likly not be able to handle it. That's why you get 4 servers with 250GB Disk rather than one with 1TB of disk space.

No offence MATSTA, but I think you still have some research to do. (Going on your last request - 5Gb/100Gb) - a normal server deal at the moment is with 2000Gb so your asking for 1/20th of that as a reseller, take an average budget cost of $200/month (without host additional costs) $10, include support and various (and there are lots) costs $10-20.
Your still asking too much for free (or now payed), you don't say what you'll charge, can you offer something competitive in the market (and it's pretty well covered), you need to revisit your thoughts on entering a very competitive and sometimes unrewarding market. It's not as easy as it might look. I'm not trying to put you off but speaking from experience, you slipped at the first post suggesting you need more knowledge about hosting before giving it a go.
Have a bit of a think about it first, I added a couple of bits to your quoted post as a pointer, hope it helps, and advertising with banners or any other ad is not any sort of guarentee for payment (it's a risk for the host).

I like that your trying to start your own company at such a young age. Im 13 aswell and just started a company this year. Its good to get some experience with CPanel, WHM and working with clients before you start your own company. Try volunteering with a small web hosting company and you'll learn alot about how to deal with clients and fix problems fast. I personally never worked for another webhosting company, I just started using CPanel alot and when I found a problem I asked one of my friends who knew about web hosting, and when he told me how to solve the problem I never forgot. Get some nice experience with CPanel, plesk and what ever other CPanel you want to train with. Request some free webspace, and maybe a very small reseller, just to find out what WHM is like and when you think your ready they get a decent sized reseller. Start of small is the best.

Call me stupid...but how can someone who is 13 legally run a business. It can not be done. If you are not incorporated, or LLC, or anything you can't legally bind people to contracts, Terms of Service, AUP's, nothing. You are holding yourself completely liable for your customers actions. I can not even believe I am seeing this sort of thing.
If infact you are not incorporated, nor any other legal form, I would HIGHLY suggest you stop doing business. Its not practical. Your 13, be a kid, have fun, go to the skating ring, go bowling, chat on Yahoo!, but don't try and start a hosting company, any company for that matter, until you are of legal age.
Decker

Dependant on legalities in the country you trade from 18 and up is the limit.
Legally anyone under the age for trading - parents beware as you are responsible.
As HostFrog pointed out - kids, it's to be admired that you want to do something but money, reputation, longevity, time, work, and loads more.
For example if you have to go to school - who's watching the business.

Take for example the whole big thread in the GD about the kid who really is going to be in big trouble after his actions. You can't trust kids, that's the whole fact of the matter. There are no exceptions, you cannot handle continously working.

Ok first yes im a kid, only 20 days untill im a teenager, and this is going to be a FREE host not paid, so im thinking if i put ads on peoples site ill make enough momey to pay for the host, im going to try to get enough moeny to invest in the host and plus ive found a decent plan:
40 Gb Space
750 Gb Bandwidth
UNLIMITED DATABASES
Ok so anyone wanna beat that!
WL-Michael
February 5th, 2006, 18:43
On that plan you placed here that doesnt include a price right? If it doesnt then you may as well go ahead and go with them while you can. Good luck.
