i'm gonna get a new harddrive soon and i just want advice as to which os i should install after i format it....i need something stable which will let me run photoshop and other programs and also games :)

I'm running win2000 apart from some real hassles getting new modem drivers it's running nicely now. not sure about the games stuff but for apps 2000 is good
depends on your system.

it should. win2000 is a version of winNT and like winNT, is stable.

You won't need to switch back after you have experienced the power of Windows 2000...
I have a Win98 partition sitting on my hard drive doing nothing but chewing up 6 gigs of space.

I think he just means a FAT32 partition he has setaside for 98 probley can boot to it. Win2000 can live on a drive with 98 and you can choose which to boot up (but why?)
