Does anyone know of a decent webhost that offers SMTP access for its POP accounts?
I am currently using free internet access (ack), and don't have a reliable SMTP server.
As far as a hosting package goes, I need about 50 or more megs of storage and at least 6 gigs of transfer. I'm looking at Tera-Byte's plan 3 and 4 right now... something along those lines would be sweet.

From my knowledge, most of the paid hosts offer SMTP servers with their POP email accounts. I can't think of any off-hand that don't.
Tera-Byte is a good host... you'll be happy with them. :)

below10host.com offers a large bulk of pop3 email accounts and does have smtp itself, as most do. But they are one of the better hosts out there.

Didn't know that... sorry for the bad advice! :(
I guess I should stick to recommending our own services, at least I know what we offer. :D

Then you would be a spammer and nobody would use your service.

Hello,
While Tera-byte provides excellent prices, excellent support, and excellent features unfortunatley they do not provide smtp. You can still sign up with them and use your default ISP settings to send outgoing mail.

If Tera-byte.com don't offer SMTP, I guess you will have to higher your price range as their prices are almost unbeatable.

master-sites isn't looking too bad, but I'm a bit concerned about not being allowed to use some of the space as backup (archive) storage.
while the primary use of the webhost would be for the website itself, I do need to be able to have the ability to store files from time to time as well.

Yes, that's true, but we're a "good" web host and follow your forum's policy. :D

That policy was created to prevent people from purchasing our Web Starter plan, then upgrading to a large amount of space (setup fee) still paying only $2.95 per month and using all, let's say, 200 MB's of their space for file storage.
If you use the web space that's given to you with your hosting plan, you can basically do anything that's not illegal with it. What you mentioned wouldn't be against our policy. I"ll make a note to reword that section to make it more clear. :)
