Can I get some opinions on my free hosting site.. http://www.t35.com
I asked about this over half a year ago, and from the opinions added new features (ftp, cgi, etc..).
Last time i got lots of very negative responses too that didn't help at all.. so if you don't have any constructive criticism to offer, don't offer any at all.
Also keep in mind we just moved locations, servers, and scripts, and not all of the small bugs have been fixed yet.
I am not sure about the rules here, so if posted something inappropriate, please correct me.
Thank you..

Well you claim to have SSI but when for some reason it doesn't work for me. Look here (http://www.t35.com/elcrapo/index.shtml). It's worked at Mektek.net, hobbiton.org, and Directoris.net but when I try it at t35.com the server side includes don't show up. Do I have to do something to get it to work?
And I tried to install Newspro, and it didn't work. I get an Internal Server Error. It's worked a bunch of other hosts, like the ones I stated above.
Maybe I'm doing something wrong. But for now, me=:confused:

Please check out "support" at the top of the page. And go to tech support in the UBB.

CGI needs to be uploaded in a special way.

What do you mean uploaded in a special way? Like in ASCII Mode?
I wasn't positive If i uploaded it in ASCII Mode before, so I tried to install it again and I'm positive I uploaded the files in ASCII Mode. But now the error I get is a 404 error for some reason.

Maybe the path in your cgi is wrong..
Can I have a look at it?
Can you send an e-mail to webmaster@t35.com
with your problem, account name, etc..
I have over 200 members running cgi flawlessly now..

Is there a reason all of your images are hosted on Homestead?
amelen

Not really.. well mainly because a while ago i had many subdomains, and had problems with anti-leeching imaging software not letting the images load on some pages. But that was 2 years ago. It makes no differnce now.. homestead is good, has no problems with it, and is fine, it would just be a hassale to change all of the image locations.
It probobly also saves bandwidth fees.. probobly not a lot though..

what does unlimited bandwidth mean?
Ted S
August 2nd, 2001, 23:21
Even though the aggregate bandwidth you may use is not limited, your web site must be used primarily for the display of HTML pages, and the total amount of data transferred from your web site space may not exceed one megabyte for every two html page views. All use of web site space shall be subject to all the terms and conditions set forth herein. T35.com retains the authority to restrict your website as to file types and size, and to restrict transfer rates or amounts.
Unlimited means nothing... he has whatever limit he wants

In the long run thought, we don't monitor bandwidth of members. Or file types. That part of the TOS is there as a precaution. There is however a 150kb file size limit. To tell you the truth, the new software we just moved into, doesn't even have the ability to track bandwidth per member.

150 kilobytes file size limit? You should make it 1+ megabytes

I had it on 500kb before.. too much abuse.. People uploading warez, appz, movies, porn, etc..
The only way to have no file type restrictions is to have a strict file size limit.

What else can i add to make it better?
PHP is in development.. anything else?

I don't think you should put a limit on the number of files.
You should offer MySQL along with PHP.

Thanks, there is no longer a file amount limit.
PHP and MySQl in development

So now you just have to edit your FAQ. :)
[ADD]
There's something wrong with your paid plans:
Plans/Costs*:
?Basic -> 1gig Bandwidth/month = $6/month
?Starters -> 3gigs Bandwidth/month = $15/month
?Bronze -> 5gigs Bandwidth/month = $22/month
?Silver -> 10gigs Bandwidth/month = $38/month
?Gold -> 15gigs Bandwidth/month = $50/month
?Platinum -> 50gig Bandwidth/month = $150/month
*$4/gig every gig over plan limit.
Let's say somebody ordered a basic plan, and he used 3 gigs. He would have to pay an extra $4 per gig over the limit, right? So that would be $6 + $4x2 = $14 = 3 gig = $1 less than starters plan
Understand what I'm trying to say?

Thank you for the corrections :)

yes that's true. i would rather manually add users and put up a very strict TOS to weed out the abusers.
amelen

The problem with that is that some abusers might have their scripts create serious impacts on the security and stability of the servers.

Thanks for all the comments and input..
I have a new question now..
I am about to sign a nice advertising contract, and need to increase daily membership rate.
Right now its steady at around 100-150 new members/day. If i can get it up to around 250/day that would be great.. Any ideas were i can list my service? or how to get it popular? Untill now i relied almost souly on word of mouth.
Btw.. how do i get listed on freewebspace.net? i submitted my site at least 4 times in the past year with no success..
