Too bad, we dont accept e-gold but with regards to ddos, most host will have them since apf, ad and bfd are FREELY available and makes a good firewall.

These free programs don't protect you from DDOS. For any non-newbie attacks, proper DDOS mitigation is needed. The datacenter need to have DDOS protection on the routers.

So Jhk, you might want to be clear about the level of DDOS protection you require.

i agree with you to an extent. These 3 are not the ultimate and effective against DDOS. but then, even a hardware firewall wont stop a DDOS if they are coming form pros and even if they do succeed, it\'ll adversely affect the speed of the sites or server.

We have seen hackers from china who managed to bring an entire server down at LT, with or without hardware firewall.

That's not so surprising, LT don't even offer DDoS mitigation services yet.

YES they do. Please run a search on WHT.

James

WHT is not the way to find out.

You can ask them yourself, LT does not offer DDOS mitigation services. Perhaps you should research into the subject a bit more.

It's on their "to do soon" list.

NetCafe

Thansk for telling me that. I dont bother to read on LT and have merely come across someone mentioning it on WHT, where MOST clients and hosts goes to.

I wont bother to read on anything with LT because they are not worth my time.

You were a client? Did you post a review somewhere? I'd be interested to read.

NetCafe

No, after they wanted to charge us reimage fees for both our AMD, we wold them to take their servers and shove it up their arse. Host like them are not worth the time to do a review on.

Incidentally, if you are still wondering as to who we dealt with, here\'s one of their reply to one of our 64-bit AMD server:

\"Hello,

A solution I would suggest to rectify the two errors you pasted in an earlier
update (the LAUS and APIC errors) would be to disable the audit service
(chkconfig audit off), as well as disable APIC (add the parameter \"noapic\" to
your kernel parameters in /boot/grub/menu.lst).

NOC Team Lead\"

In other words and simply put, if the 64bit AMD wont work with 64bit on, TURN IT OFF!

@NetCafe:

If you cannot properly manage a server, then why go with LT? After all their descriptions do say '100% fully managed and dedicated'.

LT are great, I'm not sure why you think they're bad, nor is it my concern, but as far as I'm concerned, they're excellent. 99% of people who complain about LT and state they're not good is because they do not know how to manage a server properly. I do see that you're on of the 99%.

Sorry if this offends you, afterall I'm just expressing my views :P

So your idea of \"managing\" a server is turning off the 64bit function of a 64bit AMD to get it working? Well, I must say I am impressed with your \"managing skills\".

So in future, if pour clients needs php and they cant get it to work, we just tell them to switch it off!

If you have NOT been attacked before, then you can consider us but if you ARE STILL being attacked, then I believe many host would shun your business for obvious reason.

Havig said that, as \"recommended\" with many others here, GO WITH LAYEREDTECH. If you are being attacked then, they will merely \"switch off\" your website, thats all, nothing to it. LOL

But it doesn't help at all with ddos. And only a few hosts have real ddos protection.

First of all can you please not spam with 3 replies in one go ?

Second there is no 100% Ddos protection even if there exists one hackers will find a way :bkick: . So nothing is 100% Secure
