How about recommending a host that's actually accepting sign ups? DK3 still isn't.

Dear xxxx,
You are receiving this e-mail because you have a
webspace account at DK3.com.
MySQL users please read:
Yesterday one of our webservers failed and we worked
for about six hours to install a new one. The server
crashed so badly that we were unable to re-establish
the databases for about 17.000 accounts (all on host1),
therefore we sincerely hope most of you have a database
backup.
To gain access to the database again you will have to
signup for it again at:
http://www.dk3.com/xxxxxxxxxxx
Again we encourage all our members to make frequent
backups, of both the webcontent and the databases.
We are very sorry about the downtime.
Best regards
The DK3.com team
 Good thing I don't use their MySQL..!

KYD.net has been dead for a while now, I guess it's not coming back. http://www.digitalrice.com might fit, but it isn't currently accepting new signups either. http://www.f2s.com says they expect to have signups back on July 30th.

digitalrice.com is poop!
I don't know how they opperate now, but when I was using my membership, they always switched urls on us...it was annoying as hell to those of us who had message boards there. :|

Hello All,
We have been flooded by over 100 requests for free webspace. While this was not our intention, we cannot offer everyone free webspace on our services. Just to let you know, we cannot offer domain hosting or mysql access on our free services.
We are now sifting through the numerous emails we have received, and will email all people that have applied.
Thankyou
Robert

I am lookign for a free webhost with no ad frames or pop ups. Any other kid of AD is fine. Ive been looking all for free service, but they are either all shut down or the FTP doesnt allow anyone in, i NEED a server with CGI bin and perl 5. please help me, Ive tried almost all the werbhosts u offer, but to no avail. Also,u mention some sites as having a CGI bin or free service when they really dont. please fix that. thanks.
