Hi
I see that ALOT of post now when mods edit them look very bad, it makes the forum look like its a bad place. Why dont you just delete them & PM the user, surely that would be more better than a bold line saying MOD EDIT blahh blah. I just think it makes the forum untidy.

Meh. Sending a PM to every user would take me the rest of my life.
If it really bothers you I'll just delete the posts. Everyone seems to have their preference.

Yes, I know who you were referring to. :p
I personally think it just makes the hosts who can't follow the rules look bad. ;)

Doesn't seem to make other follow them though. I remember a time there were about 4 edited posts in a row, then someone comes along and makes the same mistake with his/her post :S

I like the mod edit notes in posts. That is worthwhile, because that stops "Why was my thread deleted" threads being created (despite a PM being sent).
And, others see the reason for the edit and hopefully learn from it.
And, sometimes without a mod note, the thread won't make sense after part of a post has been removed.

This is my logic. It gives the person a chance to see what they did wrong, and in the hosting forums specifically, it gives them the opportunity to correct their offer. Sadly I've seen that happen only once.
Like Jan has noted, the edits just don't seem to have any effect on people at all. I guess they're much like sticky threads--no one takes the time to read them.

Agree ^^, No matter how you edit they dont read them anyway, the best way is just to issue a 24h ban (What I would do) & then they will understand. :bkick: :P

Not likely. You'd be surprised how many people actually get banned multiple times for the same thing. :confused2

Well, maybe not PM a user on an edit, but PM a user when you move one of there threads to the ad's and offers forums (Which was the reason i was banned!!)
Everythings been sorted now tho.
Nice to be back.

I think it makes the host look bad, I just edit if it happens to me and I notice. :)

Or post in the correct forum so it doesn't need to be moved.

Or read the rules so the mods don't even need to be here! Man wouldn't it be a great forum if there were no mods! *Contemplates what FWS would be like without a mod!*

A forum isn't a forum until a mod goes drunk with power.
I'm looking at you, Bruce.
