maybe that code red virus? haha.. j/k
Probably upgrades or a part of the major backbone went down. I've experienced that before. Can't go anywhere :(

Actually I am no longer on dialup. I got DSL while on my 2 week absence.

no problem for me. What sites were you trying to access? Maybe the problem was/is with internal us data pipes?

I'm glad my days with uuNET are past...
(I used free internet that had uuNET as their provider)
Go cable!

Thankfully I never had to experience uuNET as my provider.
Quest used to be my provider, but now it's Genuity and it has been much more reliable.

What's with all these big companies?
Anyone heard of Powersurfr?
Bruce
August 6th, 2001, 21:14
Powersurfr? Hmm... isn't that Shaw@home cable? Up in Canada I believe.

It isn't Shaw@Home... It's a competing company that is inferior to Shaw@Home. But due to this monopoly crap I'm stuck with them.

It's quite interesting how the Powersurfr website redirects to Shaw@Home then.

Ewps...
I forgot to mention that Shaw bought Videon, the owner of Powersurfr.

LOL I read somewhere that ATT&T was having trouble with the CODE RED II pinging all of its cable stuff... well, something (it perhaps) was pinging my cable modem and wasting my download bandiwth so internet was really slow yesterday lol

The bad thing about Powersurfr is that there is a 1gig upload limit. Because I had Morpheus on for an hour or so made me upload 442.7megs in a day. I have to cut back on anything that uploads for the rest of August :(.

There's something wrong with US. I've got mails returned fom 3 different email providers in US tonight.
Your mail to xxx@prodigy.net could not be delivered for the following reason:
The host 'prodigy.net' is unknown or could not be looked up
+ yahoo and one more.

CODE RED II. I got about 200 scans yesterday on my computer for port 80. It's really bad very bad.

And it has got yahoo?
Hm. I've got a firewall, but I haven't figured out how to use it yet. A lot of things seem to go on with port 80. I'm afraid I'm very uneducated about these things. :(

go to grc.com and zonealarm.com must visit for first tim firewall users.

Thanks. I don't have a server so Code Red doesn't concern me. But I fired up the firewall ;) now and there are requests for port 80 all the time. I reject all.
What firewall would you recommend? The one I've got came with my AV. Can't run anything that uses excessive resources.

I would recommend Zonealarm. It's the best.

What's an AV??
If you're thinking what I'm thinking, then you'd know how bizzare meow's post sounds to me. :p :D
