CGI chatrooms use up a LOT of system resources. You'll get kicked from any non-pay host for running them.

if you need a chat room that bad, why not look for a remotely hosted one. try bravenet

Yeah, its free! Its a network of chatrooms, try www.mirc.com for a client, you can creat your own channels and I think there are Java clients out there you can build right into your website.
